More beery gifts – Box Steam Brewery, Wiltshire

Another in the food and drink for Christmas gift guide. This time we visit Wiltshire, and Box Steam brewery, where we found ourselves popping in for some shopping back in September 2015. You may notice they’ve had a rebrand since then.

Their festive brew is Bauble – a 4.5% full-bodied golden ale with a clean, refreshing bittersweet taste and a fruity, cinnamon aroma – it’s not Christmas without a sparkly Bauble!

Box Steam don’t do Black Friday. Instead they have Box Friday (and Saturday). On Friday 9th (10am – 6.30pm) and Saturday 10th December (10am – 4pm) they are holding their annual Christmas Discount Days at the Brewery. They offer 20% off everything in the brewery shop, and you’ll be able to pre order their beers as well as Toodle Pip & Core Blimey ciders for collection before Christmas. They are also opening the bar on both days, and Philip, the head brewer, will be conducting tours on Saturday. Call then on 01225 782 700 or email info@boxsteambrewery.com to reserve your tour place.

Regular beers Tunnel Vision, Piston Broke and Golden Bolt will be available, alongside Bauble – a full-bodied golden ale with a clean, refreshing bittersweet taste and a fruity, cinnamon aroma. You’ll also find Funnel Blower – a dark beer with a vanilla sweetness contrasting a slight bitterness from roasted barley and chocolate malts and finally Broad Gauge – a malty ruby bitter with a delicate lemon aroma and a fruity bittersweet finish. I can recommend many of these as we picked them up during our visit.
