I’d like to tell you about the Flora Tea Rooms, Dunwich Beach, Suffolk, but when we got back to the car park just after 3pm after a lovely bike ride, they were closed. Who would want a cup of tea and slice of cake after 3pm? Pretty much everyone that I can think of, but this is the “Linda Smith law of tea shops”. They have always closed (for no good reason) about 10 minutes after you want to use them.
A lovely location, right by the beach, next to a huge free car park (donations to local charities welcome). Seems like an ideal place to have a tea room that opens until at least the early evening. But on this pleasant October day, it seems not. To be fair, a huge coach of pensioners from Brentwood had just departed, so they’d probably sold a few cups of tea and slices of cake already, but other people would like some too.
Stop closing ridiculously early tea shops!
