The Cragg Sisters Tearoom certainly appear to love tea. They have a tea menu. With lots of weird and wonderful teas. Ranging from a standard “House Blend” to Assam, Lapsang Souchong, Darjeeling second flush and Earl Grey.
That’s just the stuff you might recognise. There’s plenty of stuff that you probably won’t, unless you are a tea buff. Even Hazel, the Queen of tea, was not familiar with many of these delights. Mysterious teas such as Bai Mu Dan (White Peony), Elderflower White Tea, Nepal Spring White, Rou Gui Oolong and Jade Tie Guan Yin.
If that wasn’t enough, they also have blended and herbal teas to choose from, such as Orange & Grapefruit Rooibos, Morrocan Mint, Lemongrass & Ginger and Turkish Apple. There’s also hot chocolate (made from chocolate shavings), freshly ground coffee and various juices.
My choice was Fentimans sparkling ginger beer, as I’m not fan of hot drinks on warm(ish) summer days. But enough of drinks, let’s get on to cakes. They have fresh scones baked daily and a changing selection of cakes, as well as soups (and salads during the warmer months).
For Mrs MOFAD, a lemon cake (and a cup of tea of course), and for me, chocolate brownie #obvs (you may have already gathered that I always favour the chocolate option). Both cakes were very good and the brownie was suitably dense. If you’re looking for some tea & cake in Aldeburgh, you will certainly find plenty of choice here!
