Curry Cabin, Hope, April 2015

Friday night is curry night. Perhaps less so in summer when the camping season is in full swing, but for most of the year, it has to be curry. Occasionally that involves going out for one, mostly they are cooked at home or a takeaway. A takeaway means that you can have a decent IPA with it, instead of a disappointing lager…

So a takeaway it is, from Curry Cabin in Hope. I always like to try something different from the menu, so tonight it was monkfish curry, something you don’t see a lot. Very nice flavour, hints of ginger.

So, back to that decent IPA. Not tonight Josephine. This Worthington’s White Shield was an absolute travesty. With high expectations from the blurb, this was nothing like an IPA. Not pale, no hops. Total let down…

Hope Valley Beer and Cider Festival, Old Hall Hotel, Hope

This is likely to be the first of many posts about this over the Easter weekend. Once again, the Old Hall Hotel in Hope is holding a bank holiday beer festival, this time with over 80 ales and ciders available for just £3 a pint.

Tonight started off with some Columbia Creek, Tedney Gold, and for the cider fans, Weston’s Country Perry…

Two good ales and a classic perry.
